Rusizi:Jeannine&Emmanuel Foundation ,to Turn waste into Opportunity

In partnership with Mashyuza Parish, Muganza Sector, Rusizi District, Muganza Youth Initiative (MYI), and other stakeholders, the Jeannine & Emmanuel Foundation (JEF)‬​, launched a 24-month Community-Based Solid Waste Management Pilot Project for Environmental Sanitation and Inclusive Livelihoods in Muganza Sector, Rusizi District.

According to Dr Solange Uwineza The Foundation Representative, said that The project seeks to address environmental and socio-economic challenges by,Empowering out-of-school youth, teen mothers, and persons with hearing and speech disabilities through skills development and green livelihood opportunities;
She added that the Foundation will promote community waste management.
“Promoting household waste segregation and improved community waste management practices.”

She added:”Transforming organic waste into valuable compost for sustainable agriculture will promote an excellent harvest.”
Creating green jobs through waste collection, composting, and recycling initiative and Educating school children and communities about environmental protection, hygiene, waste separation, and responsible environmental stewardship will facilitate the well being of Ecosystem.

The initiative is expected to directly benefit more than 12,000 community members while contributing to cleaner communities, improved public health, sustainable agriculture, and enhanced community resilience.

By involving and educating children and communities, JEF is planting the seeds of lasting change because today’s environmentally conscious child becomes tomorrow’s responsible citizen.

Together, we are demonstrating that waste is not merely an environmental burden. It is a valuable resource that can create opportunities, strengthen livelihoods, and build a more sustainable future for all.

Jeannine &Emamanuel Foundation started in 2025 ,recognized by Rwanda Government this year of 2026.
